Programme

For Post Primary Schools

Be charity Champions

Can your students help other students like 12-year-old Sham* from Syria pictured above receive the education she deserves?

The Concern Ambassador programme for post-primary schools, will help your students become ambassadors and charity champions in their school community. They will gain valuable volunteering and fundraising experiences to aid and enrich their education and personal development.

Your fundraising efforts will help children living in the most difficult situations bring about lasting change to their lives, livelihoods and communities.

Change Lives

Your funds will help change the lives of students like Sham – thank you!

What is the Concern Ambassador Programme?

• Your students will take part in a free hour-long workshop, giving them the opportunity to learn about Concern's work as an international humanitarian organisation.

• The workshop has two elements, the first 30 minutes is a presentation talking about Concern’s work and how we support the UN Sustainable Development Goals, helping your pupils understand the effects of extreme poverty and the global issues we face.

• The remaining 30 minutes will explore how your students become charity champions in your school. They will schedule and present a pre-prepared 5-minute presentation (we've already created) to their peers and help to raise money through organising their own fundraising activities, like our Concern 24-hour sponsored challenge.

Benefits of the Concern Ambassador Programme

• This is a wonderful opportunity for your students to develop their skills in creative thinking, problem-solving, decision-making and civic responsibility.

• By taking part in the programme your pupils will gain critical volunteering experience, which will aid UCAS and job applications.

What is the Concern 24-hour challenge?

On the 21 November (or any day that suits you), pupils will take part in our 24-hour challenge, previously known as FAST. This is a sponsored challenge where pupils either abstain from social media or do a digital detox, or anything else of their choice. Free fundraising materials are provided in your free pack once you’ve registered.

St Joseph's Ambassador with their teacher
"Our Concern Ambassador Fundraising teams have worked very hard raising money, helping vulnerable children and young people in East Africa to survive and thrive. Our school has worked with Concern for many years now and the Concern Fast is an annual occurrence. The workshop is very informative and has helped our school gain an International Schools Award plus Green Flag for the Global Perspective..

Eimear Donnelly, Global Learning & Eco School Co-Ordinator at St. Joseph's High School, Crossmaglen

"My pupils take part in the FAST Appeal to make a difference to others in such dramatic need and they feel that they do! They love to see people recover from malnutrition and starvation and they love to see social justice"

David Scott, Royal Belfast Academical Institution
